Ruby Peirce, 94

To honor Ruby’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Trinity United Methodist Church in Gollaher Chapel. The Rev. Kelly Karges will officiate. Burial of ashes will be in Westlawn Park Memorial Cemetery.A gathering of friends and family will be an hour prior to the service at the church. All Faiths Funeral Home is serving the family.Ruby was born Feb. 25, 1924, on a farm west of Albion to Curtis and Cora (Nichols) Boatman. The family moved to Fullerton when Ruby was 18 months old. She graduated from Fullerton High School, class of 1942. She was active in pep club, girls reserve and a member of the Senior Class play.On Sept. 16, 1942, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Peirce, also from Fullerton. Kenneth was serving in the United States Navy and stationed at Pensacola, Fla. Throughout Kenneth’s Navy years, Ruby lived in 40 states. During the time her husband was in Hawaii, Ruby resided with her parents in Susanville, Calif. She worked at Fruit Growers Supply and graded lumber for the Armed Forces. On her husband’s return, they spent a year in Kingsville, Texas, returning to Fullerton before moving to Grand Island in 1946. Ruby was a stay-at-home mom until her daughter was in junior high. She was then employed at St. Francis Hospital, retiring in 1996 to care for her husband.Ruby’s faith was her cornerstone. She was a 50-plus year member of Trinity United Methodist Church, attending Circle and Tuesday morning Bible study for many years.She enjoyed making afghans and had made 16 cross-stitch quilts as gifts to her family. Ruby also collected teddy bears.Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Gail Peirce of Leo, Ind., and daughter, Penny (Robert) McGeorge of Grand Island; two grandchildren, Michael McGeorge and Toni (Josh) Richardson, all of Grand Island; and eight great-grandchildren, Christopher, Keith and Kinston McGeorge, Hailey, Mariah and Breana Humlicek, and Bryce and Kaytlyn Richardson.She was preceded in d...
